Why this site exists
Search "car shipping cost" and page one is almost entirely brokers running a quote calculator built to capture your phone number, not to price your move honestly. The industry has a well-documented lowball-then-raise pattern: a quote looks great, you book, and weeks later the price jumps once a broker realizes no carrier will actually move your car for that number.
CarPassage exists to close that gap. We don't own trucks. We don't dispatch carriers. We aggregate published auto-transport pricing data into an honest, dated cost range, so you know roughly what a route and vehicle should cost before you start collecting quotes from anyone.
How the numbers get built
Cost-per-mile bands, transport-type multipliers, and vehicle-size adjustments come from multiple published 2026 auto-transport pricing analyses, cross-checked against each other rather than copied from any single source. Every page states a rates-as-of date, and the underlying data gets re-verified on a quarterly cadence since fuel prices and seasonal demand move the market.
